Room 5 and 6 have been learning some rhythm patterns of 3, 5, 7 and 9. Check out how they are putting it together. Each class is split in two with group one starting the pattern from 3 and group two starting the pattern from 3. Both groups should finish at the same time. Which class do you think did best?

All classes are working on beat and rhythm this term. Rooms 7,8 and 9 have been playing a clapping game. The video of room 9 is the original game. Room 8 needed to change one of the rhythms to an action. Room 7 show how half the class needed to change the body percussion while the other half the class changed to actions. Rooms 5 and 6 have also been learning a clapping game and making changes to it. What changes can you see?

Everyone

Check out the new Music Zone timetable. Ninja's will now be on Friday so that I can have the new Junior School "Singing Squad" on Wednesday.

Juniors

I'm very excited to announce that I will be starting a junior choir called the "PBS Singing Squad". Have a listen to some other singers singing some of the songs we will look at learning. The cool thing about the singing squad is that we will also learn clapping games as well as singing lots of songs.

Everyone

Hope you're all having a good holiday. I'm getting ready to go to Waikato University where I will be doing a music course. I'm very excited about all the new things I will learn.

Performance Grous

The Kids for Kids festival is coming to Auckland. Our choir, the PBS Voices will take part on Wednesday November 4. Check out what happened when last year's "Everything is Ka pai" show arrived in Rotorua.

Juniors

This week we looked at pictures of geographical features and chose the ones that had movement. We used different body parts and levels to move our bodies. We also used locomotor and non locomotor moves. Watch this space for the videos that will come soon!!!

Seniors

This week the senior classes used 18th and 19th Century paintings of NZ landscapes to inspire their creative dance. Part 1 was to work in a group to recreate the landscape painting. Each group needed a foreground, mid and background. Individually they used air and floor pathways to paint four of the features from their painting. They finished with their recreating shape. Can you spot what painting each group had? How did they do things differently or the same as your group? What did you find hard about your own dance? If you did your dance again what would you do differently?
